    Science objectives/activities planned:
Collection of Alvinellid worms from characterized habitats. Characterization of the thermal and chemical environments of the Pompeii worm. Discrete collection of young sulfide features from a variety of habitats. Collection of large volumes of water from a variety of vent environments. Collection of Riftia, mussels, clams etc. Large educational/outreach effort - Extreme 2004 - will take place during the leg.
