OBJECTIVES: 1. map localities and aereal distribution of vents;
2. evaluate rates and composition of fluid discharge;
3. characterize benthic fluxes in the San Clemente basin floor; and
4. characterize the mineral deposits associated with the vents.

TASKS: 1. Survey the seep area,
2. deploy benthic chambers to measure fluxes at seeps and on the basin;
3. collect mineral samples; water samples and biological material (clams and tube worms)
