    Science objectives/activities planned:
          The major objectives of this cruise are to continue recovering and deploying recruitment surfaces (basalt blocks) as part of an ongoing study of succession at hydrothermal vents, and to conduct experiments on predation. We will also be collecting organisms (tubeworms, bivalves, fish, and assorted invertebrates) for a variety of onboard physiological and larval culture experiments. Submersible operations will include deployment and recovery of blocks from basket-mounted collecting boxes, slurp-sampling using the multi-bin hydraulic pump, collection of organisms, video surveys, and possibly the use of Chuck Fisher's "bush-master". Over-the-side operations will include deployment and recovery of the elevator, a current meter, and a moored camera system.
